Senior Data & Ai Engineer

My client is a London-based data and AI consultancy helping clients build production-ready data foundations for automation, AI and insight.

They’re hiring a hands-on Senior AI & Data Engineer to own technical delivery from discovery and design through to deployment and production support, lead client engagement, and help win new business. This is not a purely advisory role: you’ll be in the technology daily, using AI-assisted development tools to speed up delivery without lowering standards.

What you’ll do

• Lead the design, build and delivery of cloud data platforms on Azure, Databricks and Microsoft Fabric
• Write and review complex SQL, including tuning and troubleshooting
• Build and optimise production ETL/ELT pipelines with solid orchestration, monitoring and recovery
• Design dimensional, warehouse and lakehouse data models
• Resolve data-quality, reliability and performance issues
• Set engineering standards and mentor the delivery team
• Support new business through client discovery and credible solution design
• Build practical AI and agentic solutions using OpenAI, Claude and Microsoft Copilot, integrated with existing data platforms

What you’ll bring

• Significant hands-on data engineering experience, ideally in consultancy across multiple client environments
• Advanced SQL and strong ETL/ELT pipeline experience
• Hands-on Azure, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric or comparable cloud platform experience
• Python or PySpark, plus Git, CI/CD, testing, monitoring and infrastructure as code
• Strong data modelling and client-facing communication skills
• Practical experience building AI-powered solutions and using tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or Cursor day to day, with real examples
