Join Our Client in Shaping the Future of Space Technology
Role Summary
This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a strategic initiative aimed at enabling continuous spacecraft operations by overcoming current limitations in space asset monetisation. As a Senior Electronics Engineer, you will hold a pivotal role in shaping the core electronic systems critical to future space missions. Your expertise will directly influence the development of high-reliability, space-grade electronic hardware, making this a dynamic and impactful position within a growing and forward-thinking organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the design, development, and testing of PCB/PCBA/FPC electronic systems, including schematic capture and component selection.
- Serve as the technical authority on hardware trade-offs related to performance, cost, and manufacturability.
- Analyze electronic systems for electromagnetic compatibility, thermal management, radiation resilience, and overall reliability.
- Plan and conduct qualification testing campaigns, including space-specific validation processes.
- Integrate design-for-testability (DFT) and automated testing strategies early in hardware development.
- Establish and optimise automated test protocols and equipment for manufacturing environments.
- Collaborate closely with system integrators and manufacturing partners to ensure seamless assembly, testing, and high-volume production.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a closely related field.
- Between 8 and 12 years’ experience in electronic design, with a successful record of delivering complete board-level products.
- Industry experience in designing and testing electric actuators, particularly precision stepper and BLDC motors, including familiarity with GaNFET drivers is advantageous.
- Practical knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) testing and compliance procedures.
- Understanding of radiation effects on electronics, with experience in radiation analysis and testing methods.
- Solid grasp of heat transfer phenomena relevant to electronic hardware.
- Proven ability in reliability engineering, failure analysis, and failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Experience scaling electronics from prototypes to mass production.
- Hands-on expertise in setting up automated testing pipelines, scripting (Python, C, C++), and developing test scripts.
- Strong understanding of DFM, DFT, and DFA principles applied during hardware development.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience with high-reliability switching power supplies.
- Familiarity with space-grade electronic components and standards.
- Experience with automated manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
- Knowledge of advanced heat management and thermal analysis techniques.
