Senior Flight Physics Engineer

iO Associates is currently partnered with a leading aerospace client seeking a Senior Flight Physics Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership in the analysis, modelling, and simulation of flight dynamics and aerodynamics for a major aviation program.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the safety, performance, and efficiency of a new, clean-sheet aircraft.

As part of a dynamic and innovative team, you’ll be responsible for flight dynamics analysis, aerodynamic modelling, aircraft performance evaluation, and simulation activities, ensuring compliance with stringent aerospace standards and certification requirements.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of experience in aerospace engineering with a strong focus on flight physics, including flight dynamics, aerodynamics, and aircraft performance
• Strong proficiency in CFD tools, aerodynamic analysis software, and flight simulation environments
• Experience with flight dynamics modelling and simulation tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent)
• Expertise in aircraft stability and control, performance analysis, and aerodynamic optimisation
• Experience supporting aircraft certification activities and working with regulatory authorities (FAA, EASA)

Responsibilities:

• Lead and perform detailed flight dynamics, aerodynamic, and performance analyses, including stability, control, and handling qualities
• Develop, validate, and maintain mathematical models and simulations representing aircraft flight physics
• Conduct aircraft performance evaluations (take‑off, landing, climb, cruise, range, and endurance)
• Perform trade studies, sensitivity analyses, and optimisations to meet aircraft performance and design requirements
• Collaborate closely with aerodynamics, systems, avionics, and flight test teams to integrate flight physics into overall aircraft design
• Support flight test activities, including simulation correlation, data analysis, and technical input
• Ensure compliance with aerospace regulatory standards and contribute to certification documentation
