We are seeking a highly skilled Senior FPGA Engineer to join a dynamic team specialising in space technology. Our Client develops high-performance RF electronics, antennas, embedded software, and payload subsystems for satellite missions, supporting critical applications such as satellite communication, navigation, and Earth observation. With an international presence and a reputation for innovation, Our Client offers an empowering environment that fosters technical excellence, collaboration, and career growth. Contributing to their groundbreaking space programmes provides an exciting opportunity to work on complex challenges and influence the future of satellite technology.

This strategic role is central to the company’s mission, providing leadership in FPGA-based firmware development for mission-critical space applications. The successful candidate will lead crucial design decisions, mentor junior engineers, and act as a technical authority within the organisation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining and implementing complex FPGA architectures using VHDL or Verilog on next-generation platforms.
  • Developing digital signal processing (DSP) modules for advanced space communication systems.
  • Designing high-speed communication interfaces and storage solutions, including SpaceWire, SpaceFiber, NAND Flash, and DDR memories.
  • Participating in integration, testing, and environmental qualification of hardware solutions.
  • Optimising HDL designs for low power consumption, reduced silicon area, and radiation mitigation.
  • Preparing technical documentation in line with European space industry standards.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog and simulation tools such as ModelSim or QuestaSim.
  • Hands-on experience with FPGA synthesis tools like Vivado or Libero.
  • Knowledge of high-reliability protocols and interfaces, including SpaceWire, SpaceFiber, JESD 204B/C, NAND Flash, and DDR.
  • Expertise in Error Correction Coding (ECC), including Reed-Solomon, BCH, Turbo, and LDPC.
  • Practical experience with laboratory measurement tools such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • A solid understanding of CCSDS standards and ECSS engineering standards (desirable).
  • A Master’s or Engineer’s degree in Digital Electronics, Embedded Systems, Telecommunications, or related fields.
  • At least 7 years of relevant FPGA design experience, ideally within the space or RF communication sectors.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of French or German is advantageous.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
