Senior Manager – ICA Engineering

A leading engineering and design consultancy is looking for an experienced Senior Manager (Electrical & ICA Engineering) to join its water-sector design team. You’ll lead and develop a team delivering ICA and electrical design on complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure programmes for major UK water clients. This is a hybrid role (typically 3 days per week in the office/site), with bases available in Epsom, Peterborough or Cambridge.

The role

  • Lead and direct a team of Electrical & ICA engineers delivering technical design to relevant client/project standards
  • Manage team resource, programme and budgets to meet key milestones
  • Review and sign-off technical deliverables such as single line diagrams, cable block diagrams, load schedules, MCC specifications, control philosophies and control network architecture
  • Provide ICA technical leadership across multi-disciplinary design packages and support project delivery teams
  • Set quality standards for design output and ensure compliance across the team
  • Coach and develop Senior/Principal engineers and contribute to growth of the local team and wider technical network
  • Support bids/proposals and contribute to business development within the water market
  • Collaborate with UK and overseas teams to deliver integrated design solutions

About you

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered Engineer
  • Proven experience leading an Electrical & ICA design delivery team within a design consultancy / multi-disciplinary environment
  • Strong ICA design capability and familiarity with water industry design codes/standards (e.g., WIMES) and best practice
  • Good working knowledge of HAZOP, lightning risk, earthing/bonding, lighting design, and DSEAR/ATEX installation practices
  • Comfortable working independently, providing direction and making sound technical judgements
  • Water sector experience preferred (industrial/process environment experience essential)
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive leadership style
