Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team focused on the design and development of advanced drill bits and downhole drilling technologies. This onsite role is ideal for a highly analytical engineer with strong experience in mechanical design, product development, and performance optimisation within the oil & gas sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of advanced drill bits and downhole tools from concept through to manufacturing.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Carry out engineering analysis including FEA, CFD, stress, thermal, and hydraulic simulations.
• Analyse field wear and drilling performance data to identify root causes and improve product performance.
• Work closely with manufacturing and operations teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
• Maintain BOMs, ECOs, and ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.
• Support continuous improvement and product innovation initiatives.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in mechanical or design engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience designing drill bits, downhole tools, or oil & gas drilling equipment is essential.
• Proficient with CAD software and engineering analysis tools including FEA and CFD packages.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, hydraulics, materials, and structural analysis.
• Ability to interpret drilling and operational performance data to drive design improvements.
