Senior Stress Engineer – Aerospace

Contract type: Permanent role

Backed by substantial funding and operating with a collaborative start-up culture, they are looking for a talented engineer to join their ambitious team.

Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed structural analyses and stress reports for all areas of the aircraft, including primary structures, in accordance with company and certification standards.

  • Work closely with the structures, systems, and electrical teams to make timely design decisions and deliver appropriate stress calculations to support ongoing design work.

  • Liaise with, manage, and provide clear technical direction to offsite suppliers.

  • Develop and refine internal departmental tools for stress analysis.

  • Provide stress engineering support to other business areas, including Production, Flight Testing, Quality Assurance, and Airworthiness, ensuring all technical data is thoroughly documented and compliant.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Stress Engineer in the aircraft industry.

  • In-depth knowledge of stress analysis techniques, including classical hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA), combined with a strong understanding of airworthiness requirements.

  • Proven competency in analysing composite parts and composite structures.

  • Practical knowledge of fatigue, damage tolerance techniques, and dynamic analysis.

  • Experience evaluating design concepts and making design recommendations to solve stress challenges across the product lifecycle (from concept through to production and testing).

  • Solid working knowledge of MSC Nastran and Patran.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of producing comprehensive, high-quality stress reports.
