Senior Technician (VTC)
iO Associates are currently partnered with a leading international defence‑sector organisation that is seeking to hire a Senior Technician on a fixed‑term contract based in the Mons region.
This organisation operates mission‑critical, high‑availability communication environments and is looking for an experienced professional to support the continuity, optimisation, and technical evolution of secure voice and video‑conferencing services. You’ll be working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, contributing to configuration, maintenance, integration, and enhancement activities across core collaboration systems that underpin operational readiness.

Employment Type: Full‑time on‑site with limited travel (approx. 10%)
Security Clearance: Active security clearance required; NATO Secret highly desirable
Responsibilities
- Improve service continuity across enterprise voice and video‑conferencing infrastructures.
- Support innovation initiatives and contribute to the development of collaboration technologies.
- Provide technical expertise to project teams and assist with infrastructure upgrades and enhancements.
- Plan, test, and execute configuration and maintenance activities within voice and VTC domains.
- Support maintenance windows and deployments outside standard business hours when required.
- Coordinate and submit change requests and authorised service interruptions.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation, including baselines, diagrams, and engineering reports.
- Deliver training and mentor team members on new technologies and features.
- Investigate recurring technical issues and propose long‑term solutions.
- Provide third‑level support for both fixed and deployable collaboration systems.
- Deputise for senior staff when necessary.
Requirements
- Degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing collaboration platforms within an organisational environment.
- Hands‑on experience with voice and video‑conferencing systems and endpoint devices.
- Strong understanding of security features such as TLS, PKI, and IPSec.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills in complex IP networks, including QoS‑related issues.
- Knowledge of SIP, H.323, and PSTN signalling protocols.
- Familiarity with virtualisation and cloud technologies.
- ITIL Foundation certification.
Desirable:
- Experience with major collaboration vendors (Cisco, Poly, Pexip).
- CCNP Collaboration or similar certifications.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools and protocols (SNMPv3, Syslog, etc.).
- Scripting experience (preferably Python).
- Experience with cloud‑based collaboration platforms (Microsoft Teams, Webex).
- Strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Experience working in international or mixed civilian/military environments.
Due to the nature of the role, applicants must hold an active security clearance and be citizens or long‑term residents of a NATO member state, meeting the eligibility criteria required to obtain and maintain a NATO‑level clearance. NATO Secret is highly desirable.
