Role Summary
Due to strategic growth and a commitment to advancing their pioneering projects, Our Client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Wireless Systems Engineer. This critical role focuses on designing and implementing low-power, reliable wireless communication systems. This position offers the chance to work on groundbreaking technology at the forefront of science and engineering, directly contributing to innovative solutions that blend biology with embedded systems.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimise UWB-based wireless communication protocols for distributed embedded systems under strict energy and hardware constraints
  • Design, prototype, and test low-power multi-node wireless communication mechanisms in real hardware environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve communication and hardware challenges in dynamic, real-world conditions
  • Document system architecture, develop firmware, and iterate on design based on testing outcomes
  • Stay abreast of emerging wireless communication standards and incorporate innovative approaches into project development

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, or a related field; PhD highly desirable
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in wireless systems development, with significant hands-on involvement in industry or applied R&D
  • Proven expertise in Ultra-Wideband (UWB) communication protocols and implementation
  • Extensive experience with low-power wireless network design and optimisation
  • Strong background in embedded systems design, firmware development, and hardware debugging
  • Familiarity with mesh or decentralized multi-node communication systems
  • Proficient in embedded programming languages, with a practical understanding of hardware testing environments

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of wireless protocol stack and MAC layer design principles
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring innovative communication techniques beyond standard approaches
  • Interest in developing skills in programming languages such as Rust
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams collaborating across software and hardware domains
