We are supporting a leading aircraft OEM on a critical airframe development programme and are looking for an experienced Senior Stress, Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Engineer to join the team on a contract basis.

This is a high-impact role where you will take technical ownership across complex structural analysis and certification activities, working closely with analysis, testing, and programme stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and instruct complex structural analysis tasks internally and with external partners
  • Support and manage structural testing activities for the Analysis department
  • Define specifications and Means of Compliance for structural analysis
  • Develop and propose analysis processes, methods, and tools (including FEM pre- and post-processing, automation, and digital data workflows)
  • Plan and deliver analysis activities in line with programme milestones and deliverables
  • Improve and adapt stress and F&DT methods, assumptions, data, and procedures for metallic and composite structures using hand calculations and FEM
  • Lead the compilation of stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance reports and certification documentation
  • Ensure compliance with CS-25 and other applicable regulations (CS/JAR/FAR 23/25/27/29)
  • Assess production non-conformities and concessions
  • Support stress and fatigue analysis for repair and acceptance of damaged structures
  • Establish checking procedures and progress monitoring to ensure quality and on-time delivery

Required Profile

  • Recognised expert in stress, fatigue, and damage tolerance for metallic and composite structures
  • Engineering degree (MEng/MSc or PhD) in Aeronautics, Aviation, or Mechanical Engineering
  • 10+ years of professional experience in structural analysis across multiple aircraft development phases and lifecycle stages
  • Proven experience supporting airframe development within a structural testing environment
  • Strong knowledge of airframe certification requirements, design criteria, materials, methods, and tools
  • Hands-on experience in new aircraft development programmes under CS-25
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate complex technical activities
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills
