Battery Stress Engineer |12 Month Contract | £45-£50/hr | Outside IR35
Hybrid – Bristol (2-3 days per week on-site)
An exciting aerospace firm based in Bristol are urgently seeking a Battery Stress Engineer to support development of a high-performance electric propulsion Energy Storage System. You’ll take ownership of battery structural load cases from definition through verification, working hands-on with FEM, testing and cross-functional teams.
Key Deliverables
- Ownership of ESS structural load cases through simulation and test
- Build and validate FEM models to support design decisions
- Define and execute verification and physical test plans
- Support DFMEA and requirements decomposition
- Develop stress methods across composites, metallics, polymers and adhesives
- Support full battery pack testing against derived load cases
Essential Experience
- 5+ years in stress/structural engineering
- Strong FEM capability plus solid hand calculations
- Experience with complex electrical/electronic or energy storage systems
Desirable
- Aerospace materials & processes exposure
- ANSYS and/or Altair toolsets
- Vibration, fatigue or explicit analysis
- HV battery load cases
- DFMEA and requirements tools (DOORS, JAMA, etc.)
