The Role

We are supporting a leading engineering organisation delivering advanced satellite ground station solutions to military end users.

This role combines technical documentation with a strong focus on configuration management, ensuring that all documentation aligns with controlled system baselines and approved engineering changes within a regulated defence environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain operating documentation for satellite ground stations supplied to military customers

  • Translate technical input from engineering teams into structured documentation in line with defined customer standards and specifications

  • Ensure all documentation is aligned with approved system baselines and configuration status

  • Support configuration management activities by:

    • Maintaining document version control and traceability

    • Supporting change management processes (engineering changes, document updates, baseline releases)

    • Ensuring consistency between system configuration and associated documentation

  • Coordinate and organise system test runs to validate documentation against the current configuration baseline

  • Prepare and edit documentation covering:

    • System descriptions

    • Functional and operational procedures

    • Maintenance concepts

    • Extended functional testing

  • Edit and manage drawing set documentation in alignment with configuration standards

  • Collaborate with external service providers and customers to ensure accurate conversion of controlled documentation into electronic formats

Your Profile

  • Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or comparable qualification within Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Technical Documentation, or Configuration Management

  • Proven experience as a Technical Editor within operator documentation and/or drawing set documentation

  • Practical experience working within configuration-controlled environments

  • Understanding of configuration management principles (baseline management, change control, document traceability)

  • Familiarity with S1000D standards is advantageous

  • Experience working with military or defence customers is highly desirable

  • Strong communication skills, quality-driven mindset, and ability to work cross-functionally

  • Fluent German and English (written and spoken)
