User Experience Researcher / User Researcher with UX Design experience needed
3-6 months + possible extension
Remote with once-monthly attendence to an office and possible expensed client site visits 
£500-£600 per day Inside IR35

 

iO Associates is working with a well-known public sector consultancy to bring onboard an experienced User Researcher who has good experience with UX Research and basic UX design.

You will be working within a small UX team embedded into local-government and central-government focused product teams to research, understand and communicate user needs across the development lifecycle (from discovery to live). 

You will be responsible for planning and designing user research activities, identifying the best methods based on your goals and users. You will carry out user research with diverse users, championing participation in research with the product team.

You may develop wireframes and prototypes to support your research, or assist Designers in developing these, and conduct analysis of research data to draw out deeper understanding and insight into your users and communicate what you learn with the team and stakeholders. 

Required Skills: 

  • 10+ years’ experience of User Research; 
  • Ability to independently plan user research activities, creating research plans, guides and scripts; 
  • Demonstrated experience in a range of primary and secondary, qualitative and quantitative research methods; 
  • Ability to design wireframes and prototypes to include in usability testing sessions, both remotely and face-to-face; 
  • Ability to create effective research outputs (e.g. user needs, personas, user journeys and recommendations for the product teams); 
  • Experience of delivering user research in an Agile framework and ahead of Product and Engineering teams 
  • Ability to work with minimal direction, as a sole UX practitioner or as part of a team on a project; 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, comfortable dealing with uncertainty, ambiguity and conflict to drive change; 
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships, with the ability to be a thought partner/coach to Product and Engineering teams; 
  • Strong understand of design thinking principles and how to create and promote inclusive design 
  • Strong influencing, negotiation and communication skills (written, verbal, presentation), confident working with people at all levels of an organisation;  
  • A passion for user research, and an eagerness to learn new skills and apply newly acquired knowledge; 
  • Fostering a passion and empathy for users and their needs
