My client is one the UK's leading Managed Service Providers, specialising in IT and Cloud solutions. They now on the lookout for an experienced Lead Network Engineer to join their Manchester based team on a Full-Time basis, providing expertise in network management and performance optimisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot problems, and schedule upgrades to ensure maximum efficiency.
  • Investigate data network faults in LAN & WAN environments using various sources of information.
  • Establish and enforce network security policies, including firewall administration and access monitoring.
  • Upgrade network equipment and firewalls, configure routing and switching devices, and manage IP addressing.
  • Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users during installations and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Communicate with customers to capture initial requirements and provide proactive monitoring and management of services.
  • Collaborate with clients to analyse needs and develop solutions that meet or exceed expectations.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including Cisco and Dell switches, and Cisco routing (OSPF, BGP).
  • Prior experience managing/mentoring junior engineers
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, including firewall configuration (Cisco/SonicWALL/Fortinet).
  • Familiarity with vendor products such as Cisco, Extreme, Fortinet, SonicWALL, and Huawei.
  • Experience in VMware network configuration and operating systems like Windows Server and Linux.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a support environment.
  • Cisco (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE etc) CCNA) or equivalent certification.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, VoIP, VPNs) and connectivity technologies (LAN/WAN/Wireless).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Logical approach to fault finding and commitment to seeing tasks through to completion.
