Job title: Mechanical Designer (Robotics Engineer)

Location: Broughton, Chester - onsite

Job type: 12 month's Contract

Shifts: Standard 35 hours per week (working 4.5 days between the hours of 7am - 7pm, hours agreed at business discretion)

Salary: £47 per hour Umbrella

iO Associates is partnering with a leading global aerospace organisation renowned for designing, manufacturing, and delivering advanced products and services across commercial aviation, defence, space, and helicopter sectors. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Designer (Industrial Robotics R&D Engineer) to join their team, focusing on the development of cutting-edge robotic solutions that drive innovation within the aerospace industry.

Required:

  • Master's/PhD in Controls, Mechatronics, or Robotics (or equivalent hands-on engineering experience).
  • Expertise in robotics control, dynamics, kinematics, CAD (CATIA/3DX), and simulation tools (KUKA.Sim, DELMIA, Matlab/Simulink, etc.).
  • Proven track record in integrating industrial robotic solutions and selecting sensors/actuators.
  • Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and a proactive, can-do attitude from concept to high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and analyze robotic concepts, perform simulations (load, stress, fatigue), and develop mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic 2D/3D models.
  • Build, test, and validate prototypes, perform failure analysis, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and CE Mark standards.
  • Define requirements, generate manufacturing documentation (BOMs, drawings), and support deployment and maintenance of robotic systems.
  • Advance robotic technology integration in aerospace, uphold product integrity, and mentor junior engineers in best design practices.
