About the Role

A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Piping & Plant Layout Engineer to support major capital projects across the energy, oil & gas, chemical, and renewable sectors. This role focuses on delivering high-quality piping design, 3D plant modelling, and layout optimisation while ensuring constructability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions from concept through detailed design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop piping and plant layouts in accordance with project requirements, industry codes, and safety standards.

  • Create and maintain piping specifications aligned with process and application needs.

  • Prepare bills of materials (BOM), line lists, and tie-in schedules.

  • Perform or review pipe stress analysis using industry-standard tools.

  • Produce and review 3D models, piping GA drawings, isometrics, and support details.

  • Collaborate with process, mechanical, civil/structural, and electrical teams to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

  • Conduct layout studies to optimise accessibility, maintainability, safety, and material efficiency.

  • Review vendor documentation for technical compliance.

  • Participate in model reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability assessments.

  • Coordinate with global design centres and verify the accuracy of their deliverables.

  • Provide accurate design data to support cost and schedule estimating activities.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in piping design and plant layout within oil & gas, chemicals, LNG, or related industries.

  • Proficiency with 3D design tools such as E3D, PDMS, SmartPlant 3D, or AutoCAD Plant 3D.

  • Knowledge of pipe stress analysis software; experience with CAESAR II or AutoPIPE is highly desirable.

  • Strong understanding of ASME, ANSI, API, and other applicable piping codes and standards.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and detail-orientation skills.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive, positive attitude.

  • Professional Engineering (PE) licence preferred or as required by regional regulations.
