Senior Databricks Engineer - Freelance or Perm

Munich / Berlin / Remote (Germany-based only)
€900-1200/day freelance OR €100k-130k perm

We're hiring a hands-on Databricks expert to lead the build of scalable, production-grade Lakehouse pipelines in a regulated enterprise environment. If you're fluent in PySpark, Delta Lake, and enjoy working close to business-critical data products, we want to talk.

What you'll do:

Architect and build data pipelines in Databricks (Azure/AWS)
Design Delta Lake architectures with Unity Catalog
Work with Data Scientists to productionise ML pipelines using MLflow
Own performance tuning, testing, and CI/CD deployment for notebooks
Integrate structured and semi-structured data from diverse sources (SAP, APIs, IoT)

We're looking for:

4+ years of hands-on PySpark experience
2+ years working in Databricks (not just Spark)
Strong SQL and Delta Lake experience
CI/CD mindset - Git, DevOps tools, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform a plus)
Professional fluency in English; German is a plus but not required

Bonus points for experience with:

Unity Catalog, SCIM provisioning, or workspace security
MLflow, Feature Store, or MLOps pipelines
Domain knowledge in pharma, finance, or manufacturing
