Embedded Software Engineer - St Helens - £45,000.

The company: An opportunity has presented itself or a Firmware Engineer/Embedded Software Engineer in St Helens, Merseyside. The client is a major supplier to corporations in the Gas and Medical industries.

The client has offices based in all corners of the country, therefore the opportunity to work and travel is possible for the successful candidate, on top of being offered a competitive salary & working on supplying life-saving equipment in the field.

The role: It will involve design and development of firmware for medical gas control devices, testing activities in our laboratory and supporting offsite testing, working with suppliers to develop efficient manufacturing solutions, and supporting the team with firmware development.

The successful candidate is expected to have the following skills:

• Hands on experience of firmware development engineering tasks - 3 years+
• Write and document robust software/firmware code in C/C++
• Experience writing firmware/software for Embedded RTOS
• Experience using USB, I2C, SPI, UARTs, RS232 communication systems.

The following skills are not a requirement, but desirable:

• Experience of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and internet networking protocols.
• Experience of writing secure systems using TPM or similar trust/security systems.
• Experience of writing firmware for ARM, PIC and S12 microprocessors.
• Experience of writing software/firmware for Windows and Linux based systems.
• Experience of writing firmware for real-time control in the medical market to ISO 13485 / IEC 60601.

This opportunity lends itself to an Embedded Software Engineer who may have experience in different facets of Engineering, such as Electrical or Mechanical.
