Associate Technical Director - Mechanical Engineering (Water Sector)

Our client is seeking a Associate Technical Director in Mechanical Engineering to shape the delivery of transformational programmes - from treatment works and pumping stations to critical distribution networks.
About the role
You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, set the technical direction, and provide expert guidance on complex mechanical systems. Your work will influence high-profile projects that improve communities and deliver sustainable, resilient water solutions.
Key responsibilities
Lead technical delivery, quality, and safety across multiple water sector projects.
Provide subject-matter expertise on mechanical systems including pumps, blowers, screens, and chemical dosing equipment.
Define technical strategy for projects and proposals, championing innovation and best practice.
Collaborate with teams across the UK and internationally to deliver integrated solutions.
Mentor and develop mechanical engineering talent, fostering a culture of excellence.
Build trusted relationships with clients as a strategic technical partner.
Candidate requirements
Chartered or Fellow Mechanical Engineer with leadership experience in the water industry.
Extensive knowledge of UK water sector design standards and mechanical systems.
Proven track record in multi-disciplinary project delivery.
Recognised technical authority in your field, nationally or internationally.
