About the Role

iO Associates is partenered with a leading global company who are looking for a freelance Automation & Equipment Integration Engineer to contribute to their IT and automation systems team.

In this role, you will design, improve, and support automation solutions that connect manufacturing equipment with digital systems - helping ensure stable, efficient, and data-driven production. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and report directly to the site's technical management.


Your Profile

  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in automation engineering, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment.

  • Solid understanding of PLCs, SCADA, and HMI systems.

  • Experience integrating production equipment with IT systems or databases.

  • Strong programming ability - ideally with ladder logic, Python, or C++.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automation systems and interfaces supporting advanced manufacturing processes.

  • Develop and integrate software and data solutions for equipment connectivity between factory systems and IT infrastructure.

  • Monitor system performance, perform analysis, and implement technical improvements to boost uptime and reliability.

  • Collaborate with process and equipment engineers to ensure automation aligns with production targets and quality standards.

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical support for automation and communication systems.

  • Maintain accurate technical documentation including layouts, configurations, and operating procedures.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry innovations and emerging automation technologies.

  • Coordinate activities with external suppliers and service partners to ensure system stability and quality delivery.

  • Participate in the planning and rollout of automation upgrades and improvement projects.

  • Train and support production teams on best practices in automation and equipment usage.
