Job Title: Business Improvement Lead

Salary: £47,500 pa
iO is looking for a Business Improvement Lead for the client to drive and supervise LEAN activities as part of continuous improvement in production areas to eliminate all types of waste and to increase productivity on individual lines and machines.
To implement and enhance all VTPS (Vacuum Technique Production System) elements throughout production. To train and coach people in VTPS philosophy. To support the KAIZEN culture implementation in cooperation with manufacturing team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures implementation of VTPS management system and drives VTPS cultural enhancement throughout the plant. Regularly monitors the progress.
- Cooperates with Engineering teams when implementing new technologies, machines, lines to ensure VTPS alignment from the very beginning of operations.
- Drives use and implementation of LEAN techniques to set up workplaces in line with lean philosophy, follows agronomy of work process and CRW (Change Review Worksheet) process when new workplace is created and prepared.
- Cooperates with SHE Specialist to improve ergonomy of workplaces in production.
- Prepares and keeps operators work standards up-to-date based on the agreed plan and priorities and cooperates on man-machine ratio projects defined in production.
- Coaches' others in manufacturing team to use the right Six Sigma tool at the right time.
- Introduces the LEAN basics and VTPS core elements during on-the-job training to all new employees.
- Is responsible for managing regular VTPS walk meeting (1/month) and to report out VTPS core activities and achievements to the management team.
- Is responsible for organizing regular KAIZEN events or Yamazumi events on respective lines or areas.
- Participates in safety observations process on a regular basis and provides regular feedback to manufacturing and SHE team. Puts in place corrective action plan.
- Participates in other BPI projects if needed. Identifies investments needed in machines, fixtures and tooling. Co-ordinates capital proposals, e.g., expansion plans, NPI, transfer of production to other sites.
Required Skills:
- Utilizes LEAN, Six Sigma, and other best practice tools and principles for day-to-day problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Establishes and maintains 6S audit system and regular 6S assessment of the whole plant.
- Builds KAIZEN culture to drive continuous improvement culture within the plant.
