DevOps Engineer - Database Administration

Role: DevOps Database Engineer

Location: Zurich, Switzerland

Salary: up to CHF 140,000

Working model: Hybrid

As a DevOps Engineer specializing in database administration, you'll play a crucial role within the Cloud team. Collaborating with a skilled team of database and infrastructure specialists, your focus will be on driving the utilization of public cloud services, particularly Microsoft Azure.

You'll be tasked with crafting innovative and efficient cloud database architectures, seamlessly integrating them into hybrid cloud setups, and facilitating the migration of existing on-premises databases to the cloud. Leveraging your expertise, you'll spearhead the successful execution of cloud migration strategies, ensuring smooth operations and advocating for the adoption of DevOps practices and tools.

You will:

  • Design: Implement strategies for managing and scaling public cloud solutions, primarily on Microsoft Azure, focusing on databases.
  • Advance: Foster adoption of DevOps practices and tools, including CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring within public cloud environments.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with other teams to seamlessly integrate databases into overarching systems.
  • Monitor: Ensure the integrity of existing databases through monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Implement: Apply best practices for high availability, disaster recovery, and security in public cloud solutions and databases.
  • Evaluate: Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in database development.

You have:

  • Education: Successfully completed studies in computer science, business information, or equivalent.
  • Experience: Proven professional background in managing and optimizing database systems.
  • Proficiency: Familiarity with automation and orchestration tools like CI/CD pipelines (Git, Jenkins, Terraform…).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of SQL database technologies (and other relational databases) and practical application experience.
  • Practicality: Hands-on experience in implementing or managing services in public cloud environments.
  • Security: Deep comprehension of enterprise security concepts and associated best practices.
  • Initiative: High degree of proactive problem-solving and solution orientation.
  • Language: Fluent in both German (B2) and English (C1+).
