iO Associates have partnered with a Engineering consultancy in the search for a Electrical & Controls Engineer.

My client provides engineering services to a range of sectors including Nuclear Power, Defence, Rail and Aerospace.

Due to significant growth, especially in the Nuclear sector they are looking to expand their team. The role is to be responsible for EC&I systems solution for the end clients. The systems can vary from simpler hard wired systems to more complex complex multi panel systems with significant programmable elements and be used in a safety or security critical contexts.

In the role you will be performing end-to-end work related to EC&I systems. This may include functional safety, FEED, specifications, high level and detailed design, coding, testing, installation and commissioning activities.


You will also be engaging with clients to understand technical needs and develop successful working relationships and assisting with technical input for proposals/tenders.

You will use your experience to verify junior engineer's EC&I technical documentation too.

To be successful in this role you will need:

Essential:

  • Capable of working on diverse projects under senior supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience of a broad range of electrical control equipment and its application in automated and safety related systems.
  • Good knowledge of process systems and how to control them.
  • Knowledge of electrical and safety sector standards including BS EN 61508.


Desirable-
(Any 3 of the following)

  • A good understanding of the safety lifecycle for EC&I safety systems.
  • Experience in design, substantiation, verification & validation, safety justification of high integrity software-based protection and/or safety control systems.
  • Knowledge of PLC programming and system integration, HMI and SCADA configuration and development, software testing techniques and experience of installation and commissioning of PLC / SCADA systems.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage electrical systems.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Chartered engineer status with a relevant professional body (or experience necessary to qualify for such).


In return you will receive a salary between £50,000-£70,000 DOE and it comes with benefits including a competitive pension, 25 days holiday plus BH.

Additional Information:

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK of 5 years or longer.
