A genuine world leader in broadcast and telecoms technologies is seeking a add to their software team based in a World Heritage site near Leeds.

As a Staff Software Engineer you will be learning with the team and be part of the team to developing cutting edge and high-quality embedded products with strong focus in STB and PayTV Technology. A customer facing role with full responsibility for generating and maintaining quality SW, designs and associated documentation for software components.

The ideal candidate for this environment will be enthusiastic, collaborative, Accountable, Pro-active, Analytical and Eager to learn.

Principal accountability:

• Develop embedded Linux/RTOS solutions for STB, Develop and integrate the SW interfaces to connect SW Application layers.
• Learn with the team. Analyze and develop interfaces and drivers, debug field issues and suggest/modify to support the software enhancements.
• Triage customer requests to prioritize and validate the issues, into the system, so they can be either closed or escalated.
• Complete tasks from beginning to end including testing and debug to handle deliverables with high quality standards.
• Generates clear reports on activities performed, ongoing activities and future.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent Technology discipline.
• Passionate about software development
• Good knowledge in C/C++ programming in an embedded environment
• Relevant work experience
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Intermediate expertise in Linux/RTOS system internals - preferred Linux
• Basic Knowledge of DVB, Linux device drivers and Networking
• Development experience if any on GNU tools and cross-tool chain
• Candidate should be a self-starter, insatiably curious and always learning new technologies
