Embedded Software Engineer

A client of mine based in Belgium is currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer for a long term contract. Offering an initial 12 month contract, this role offers the opportunity to work on technology at the pinnacle of the Defence industry. Some key information is as follows:

Rate: up to 500€ per day
Location: Wallonia region, Belgium
Duration: 12 months with the possibility of extending further
Remote working: 1-2 days per week remote is possible.

Activities/Responsibilities

• Participate in the design of embedded systems
• Evaluate functional needs and formalise requirements
• Carry out architectural evaluation of software solutions
• Develop the software solution
• Participate in the development of systems integration and validation plans and their implementation
• Document the software solution (design justification, evaluate description documents, etc.)
• Apply current development standards and methodologies throughout the design of software components

Ideally, I am seeking candidates that can demonstrate the following skills and expertise:

• Relevant experience of C/C++ (embedded) in the Defence or similar industry
• Ability to communicate in both French and English
• Good knowledge of developmental methodologies (V-Cycle, Agile etc)
• Unit testing experience
• Experience with POSIX API

In addition, the below skills and experience would be considered an advantage but are not essential:

• Communication protocol experience (e.g. CANBUS)
• Experience in developing Linux drivers
• RTOS experience
• QT Framework knowledge
• Previous experience of working with the Artlassian Suite (Jira, Bamboo, BitBucket etc)
