When working within R&D, I've found a lot of your enjoyment comes from what you're working on. What's in the product, what additions can future iterations include…how can we tinker test and improve! It comes with some great challenges.

This organisation make a low-power, portable electronic device that includes embedded software, a user interface, Bluetooth, GPS and a memory function. It's application is outside in potentially rough environments - so everything from the hardware to the software has to be pretty robust and to a certain level of quality.

This quality is the reason the manufacturer of these amazing devices, have gone from strength to strength supplying into countries across the globe and constantly investing in R&D.

Operating out of South West London, they are looking to uphold this standard by appointing a Head of Testing. This role requires a real people manager and leader, someone who can take requirements, understand changes in the software and motivate the team to get work done on time. You'll represent all aspects of Quality throughout Product development across new and existing designs.

It's a management role with a number of direct reports. These engineers will be testing embedded software and higher level application/web level software. Although you won't have to get stuck into the test scripts yourself, this should be your background.

Skills Needed

  • Able to lead a team of testers - both firmware test and software test
  • Able to manage the test process
  • Able to communicate the impeding issues with project manager & other stakeholders
  • Agile/Scrum

It's highly desirable if you have experience of implementing test Automation using Selenium. Interested? Apply below, or contact me Charles Hoskins at iO Associates.
