About the Role

iO Associates are seeking an experienced Freelance Implementation Project Manager to lead the deployment of a new Electronic Health Record (EHR) system within a German healthcare provider or digital health platform. This role sits at the intersection of healthcare delivery and digital transformation, requiring strong stakeholder coordination, technical awareness, and implementation expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end implementation of the EHR system across clinical and administrative departments

  • Manage timelines, milestones, risks, and dependencies throughout the project lifecycle

  • Coordinate internal teams (IT, product, operations) and external vendors (software providers, integration partners)

  • Oversee system configuration, integration (HL7/FHIR), and data migration

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders including clinicians, medical informatics specialists, and hospital IT leads

  • Facilitate user training and change management efforts

  • Monitor project KPIs and report progress to senior leadership and regulatory bodies

  • Ensure compliance with German healthcare IT standards and data protection regulations (e.g. DSGVO)

Your Profile

  • Proven experience delivering healthtech projects in Germany, ideally EHR implementations

  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and clinical data structures

  • Solid grasp of IT implementation practices, including system integration, user acceptance testing (UAT), and go-live support

  • Familiarity with German digital health regulation, KHZG requirements, and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR, IHE)

  • Confident working in a multi-stakeholder environment with clinicians, developers, and administrators

  • Fluency in German (C1 or higher) and working proficiency in English

  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience working with vendors

  • Background in hospital IT, digital health platforms, or consulting firms delivering to Clinics

  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or Scrum)

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to drive real-world impact in Germany's digital health transformation

  • Flexible, remote-first freelance setup with project-based autonomy

  • Exposure to a forward-thinking environment at the forefront of EHR and digital care delivery

  • Possibility of extension and future projects in wider HealthTech/Digital Health domains
