Linux Support Engineer - Outside IR35 Contract Role - Remote Working - URGENT


iO Associates are currently looking for a Linux Support Engineer to join my client on an intial 6-month contract role (project will be 12+ months) offering a competitive day rate (OUTSIDE IR35) for an immediate start. This role will offer remote working with the occasional visit to Bristol. The ideal candidate is someone who is have strong experience with Linux, VMWare ESXi and vSphere, Scripting - such as Shell, BASH, CSH, Python and ideally have some networking experience.

Responsibilities:

· Logging and solving support requests f2f & via ticketing system

· General Level 1 & 2 Unix Support tasks

· Management and support of Linux server and desktop environment

· Maintaining and Supporting virtualization software and infrastructure

· Security patching, including risk assessment for the company environment

· Define and automate processes to increase functionality and efficiency

· Building and maintaining R&D lab environments

Essential Skills:

· Linux Operating systems - Any flavor such as Debian/Ubuntu/CentOS

· Virtualization - Any flavor such as VMware ESXi/vSphere

· Scripting - such as Shell, BASH, CSH, Python

· Working knowledge of version control software

· Hands on hardware builds in a lab and Data Center environment

Advantageous Skills:

· Resilient and redundant file systems - ZFS and DRBD, btrfs, LVM, RAID, NFS

· Experience of creating redundant systems with tools such as Corosync or HAProxy

· Good networking skills such as VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, routing, subnetting

· An understanding of configuration management such as Puppet or Ansible

· An understanding of monitoring solutions such as Nagios, Icinga, Zabbix

· Experience with Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, Office365

· RHCE / RHSA certification
