Job Title: Principal Safety Consultant

Location: Rosyth, Scotland (Hybrid)

Contract: 12 months

Hourly Rate: Up to £100/hour

About Us:

A pioneering engineering firm based in Scotland is urgently looking for a Principal Safety Consultant to direct and undertake radiological safety assessments and INSA/Peer Reviews for various nuclear facilities. This role requires expertise in nuclear safety, regulatory negotiation, and team management, along with mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Honours Degree in Science or Engineering
• 15 years of relevant experience in radiological safety assessments and/or INSA/Peer Review
• Cross-industry experience with extensive knowledge of nuclear facilities and operations
• Experience in preparing safety documentation (Hazard Management Strategy, Safety Reports, ALARP arguments)
• Regulatory negotiation and safety management expertise

Responsibilities:

• Provide nuclear safety input to design projects
• Prepare and agree on Safety Case Strategy
• Support submissions through review and approval stages
• Peer review bids and designs
• Supervise technical specialists

Desirable:

• Experience with UK submarine programme and new nuclear build
• Broader non-nuclear safety case expertise considered
