Our client is seeking a Regulatory Services Officer to support the Regulatory Services Manager in delivering statutory functions, inspections, and investigations. The role involves leading projects, supervising colleagues, and ensuring compliance through effective enforcement and public engagement.

Job title: Regulatory Services Officer (Public Sector - Neighbourhoods & Environment Department)
Location: Essex
Salary: £46,142/Yr. - £52,413/Yr. (depending on experience)
Contract: Permanent and on-site

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver complex regulatory duties, inspections, and investigations
Lead statutory functions and manage enforcement actions
Supervise and support colleagues within the team
Conduct follow-up visits and respond to public/business complaints
Provide specialist advice on regulatory matters
Carry out occasional out-of-hours duties (evenings/weekends)
Represent the Council at hearings, tribunals, and external meetings
Assist in policy development and enforcement protocols

Essential Skills & Experience:

Background in regulatory services or a related field
Strong knowledge of statutory functions and legislation
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility for out-of-hours work

Desirable:

Professional certifications in regulatory/enforcement
Experience in complex investigations and enforcement
