We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design, integration, testing, and optimisation of mechanical systems for robotics and automation applications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles, a proven track record of designing complex mechanical systems, and a passion for innovation in the field of automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with electrical, software, and controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with other subsystems, ensuring seamless functionality and performance.
  • Perform structural and kinematic analysis to validate designs and ensure performance requirements are met.
  • Generate comprehensive Bill of Materials (BOMs) and work closely with procurement to select appropriate materials and components for manufacturing.
  • Prototype and test mechanical systems to validate performance and functionality, iterating designs as necessary.
  • Document design specifications, test results, and technical reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support during the manufacturing, assembly, and testing phases of robotic systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing solutions as needed.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience designing robotic assemblies or similar complex mechanical systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and materials science.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Passion for robotics and a desire to innovate in the field of automation, staying abreast of industry developments and contributing to the advancement of technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to identify issues, analyse root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling software, production drawings, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T), and design for manufacturing (DFM) principles.
