Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Seascale, Cumbria, CA20 1PG

Contract: 12+ Months (4 days at Sellafield, 1 day at home)

Type: On-site

Rate: up to £ 52/hr

iO Associates is looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to work for a renowned global infrastructure company. The company provides funding, planning, construction, and upkeep of effective infrastructure that supports daily life, strengthens communities, and promotes economic development.

You will be responsible for developing and verifying structural calculations and plans for on-site modifications, subject to the approval of the permanent works department. Also, respond to technical inquiries, and information requests, and address non-compliance issues.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site evaluations.
  • Analyze and assess contractor-provided method statements, risk assessments, and inspection plans.
  • Examine designs for temporary structures.
  • Engage directly with construction teams to comprehend their needs, challenges, and work priorities, evaluating any potential effects on the design and the scope of work needed.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Must have a degree or HNC in engineering and be a chartered engineer (MIStructE or MICE) with experience gained after obtaining a chartership.
  • Should be proactive, and independent, and possess strong skills in communication, analysis, and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with CDM Regulations is necessary.
  • Proficiency in using STAAD.
  • Skilled in generating calculations with Excel.

Software and Design Tool Proficiencies:

  • Competence in using the latest versions of Microsoft Office software.
  • Proficient in STAAD.
