The Opportunity
As the Lead Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and performance of applications that are critical to the success of important projects. In this permanent position, you will be given the opportunity to work on a range of challenging projects and will have the flexibility to focus on either test automation (Cypress, Selenium, Robot, etc.) or test infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.), depending on your area of expertise.
The SME we are working with supports a number of high-profile UK Defence projects, making significant contributions to national security. Their mission is to overcome some of the world's toughest challenges through innovation, curiosity, and dedication.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable, robust test frameworks using modern technologies and industry best practices.
- Be actively involved throughout the software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements through to design, testing, and deployment.
- Work closely with teams across multiple disciplines, including product management, software development, and UX design.
- Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering growth and development within the team.

Desired Skills and Experience
- Proven experience as a QA/Test Engineer with a strong background in automated testing tools (e.g., Cypress, Selenium, Robot, Cucumber, Molecule, JMeter).
- Familiarity with CICD pipelines, containerisation, deployment technologies, and cloud platforms (such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with experience working in an agile environment preferred.
Security Clearance
Due to the sensitive nature of the projects, applicants must be British citizens to be considered for this role. The successful candidate must either already hold the highest level of UK Government security clearance or be eligible for it.
