The details of the role are as follows:

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan and carry out User Research activities, using appropriate UCD methodologies (qualitative and quantitative), to help teams get a deeper understanding of the people using our services.

  • Be an active and key member of the User Centred Design practice to help embed and grow a user-centred culture across the organisation.
  • Champion user-centred and agile practices, working with colleagues to plan and carry out continuous user research in a multidisc
  • Coach a junior member of the team in the required skills to allow them to operate at a senior level without supervision

Essential Skills

  1. Research skills. You understand and have experience of a range of User Centred Design User Research methods, both qualitative and quantitative. You know when to use those methods and how to apply them correctly. You know how to involve your team in research activities.
  2. Strategic insight. You champion the user problem that the team is trying to solve. You can align user research activities to inform decision making and action.
  3. Analysis and synthesis. You understand how to apply User Centred Design research techniques for the analysis of data and synthesis of findings (i.e. user journeys, affinity mapping). You know how to involve your team in UX analysis and synthesis to build a shared understanding. You can present clear findings that colleagues can understand and use.
  4. User-centred and agile practices. You understand and have experience of a range of user centred design practices. You know how to work with colleagues to plan and do iterative user research in a multidisciplinary team.
  5. Inclusive research. You advocate for the user and can use appropriate methodologies to engage a range of users. You understand the diversity of users and the need to make services usable, useful and accessible for everyone.
  6. Technical understanding. You have strong knowledge of the technologies used to build and operate digital services. You understand the different technical roles in a digital team.

The role requires SC Clearance so if you hold ACTIVE SC CLEARANCE that will work to your advantage. If you don't have it, it can be obtained once you've been successful in the interview process, assuming you're clearable.
