iO Associates have partnered with a Global FMCG business in the search for their next Site Quality & Food Safety Manager based in their site in Carlisle.

They have been around for over 100 years and have large global footprint, however they have retain the family ethos that has made their businesses and brands so iconic.

In this role you will be leading the Safety, Quality, Security and Environment (SQSE) team (team of 8) and will be responsible for Food Safety, Product Quality, Hygiene and Pest Control. On a day to day basis you will be leading the maintenance of the site SQSE systems and you will be driving the adherence and continuous improvement of the relevant systems, standards and procedures.

You will play a crucial role in the site Crisis and incident management team and you will also form part of the sites leadership team providing effective leadership of the teams resources ensuring they prepared to manage all relevant compliance issues and challenges. Continuous professional development will be paramount to not just your own but your teams success in an ever evolving environment, therefore your ability to lead and mentor and up skill your team will be key.

Additionally you will be responsible for coordinating the site compliance validation processes by internal and external parties including customer audits, BRC, SEDEX and the internal central teams. You will be in charge of the teams budget and capital spend, looking for cost reduction opportunities and performing GAP analysis.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Proven QA or Food Safety experience with confidence working at a managerial role in a FMCG environment
  • Formal Auditing Qualification
  • ISO lead auditor
  • Level 4 Food Safety
  • Level 4 HACCP
  • Resilience and agility to manage a constantly evolving environment
  • Proven track record to work with individuals at different levels across a range of functions
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Effective communication and influencing skills


In return you will receive a salary between £45,000-£50,000 along with a £5,800 car allowance, 10% bonus, Single person cover medical, Stakeholder Pension EE 6%, ER 9%, Life Insurance; 4 x Life insurance cover and 25 days + bank holidays.
