Software Development - Team Lead

From system specification you will develop high level software requirements and derive low-level requirements and design. Most of the components will be written in C language where you contribute with safe and secure code. You will be involved in DO-178 verification activities and interact with the test teams.

You will lead the development of an avionic software component or subcomponent. Besides the development tasks you will be involved in financial and schedule planning of this component. Furthermore you support proposals with the design approach and budgetary estimate.

The role:

  • Leading a team of approx. 20 internal and external staff to deliver and maintain software products per defined requirements
  • Development and training of team members as well as strategic planning and budgeting for the team
  • Management of projects ensuring delivery within agreed timelines and budgets
  • Overseeing the development, specification and verification of embedded real-time applications according to aerospace processes (DO-178C) or within the scope of research projects
  • Collaboration in the further development of the software architecture
  • Support in the execution of flight tests and test campaigns
  • Optional: management of subprojects with responsibility for planning, schedule budget compliance
  • Software engineer or electrical engineer ETH /
  • FH or comparable education
  • Embedded programming experience
  • (C, C++)
  • Experience with Unit Testing and Continuous Integration

What you bring

  • University degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • At least 10 years of experience in the field of embedded software development, preferably in a safety-critical environment
  • Proven experience in leadership of large multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of software engineering processes, structured architecture and design methodologies
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing requirements or situations and to balance conflicting priorities
  • Strategic focus on team development and continuous optimisation of products and processes
