Aerospace Stress Engineer

Permanent role
Onsite in Munich (1 day remote working per week possible)

Job Description:

iO Associates is currently partnered with an innovative Aerospace Start Up company in Munich that is currently seeking a Stress Engineer to join their team.

As a key member of their team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of their aerospace structures. Your expertise in stress analysis and your ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams will contribute to the success of our projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct stress analysis of metallic or composite primary and secondary components using both hand calculations and finite element methods (FEM).
  • Prepare comprehensive structural substantiation reports that adhere to technical requirements set by the program and certifying authorities.
  • Collaborate with offsite suppliers, providing technical guidance and ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Offer stress support to various departments within the organization, including Design, Production, Flight Test, Quality Assurance, and Airworthiness.
  • Document technical data in accordance with internal standards and guidelines, emphasizing quality, compliance, and safety aspects.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in aerospace stress engineering
  • Strong Knowledge: Profound understanding of the fundamental principles of stress analysis for metallic and composite structures.
  • Certification Understanding: Familiarity with civil aircraft certification rules, ideally including JAR/CS/FAR 23 or 25.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in pre/post-processors and solvers such as Nastran, Hypermesh, and Patran.
  • Load Paths Expertise: Familiarity with aircraft structural load paths and experience applying analysis methodologies to primary and secondary structural components.
  • FE Modeling: Capability to set up finite element (FE) models based on digital mock-ups (DMU) or design principles.
  • Language Skills: Very good spoken and written English; knowledge of German is a plus
