iO Associates is looking for a Stress Engineer to work remotely with an Electric Aircraft company in Munich, Germany. This is a cutting-edge aerospace company revolutionizing urban mobility with innovative aircraft designs.

You'll be responsible for contributing to groundbreaking work in agile concept evaluation and design improvements for aircraft structural components related to energy storage systems. It will include topology optimization, pre-sizing, stress and crash analysis, and the creation and validation of detailed Finite Element models.

Title: Stress Engineer

Location: Munich, Germany (Remote work possible)

Duration: 6 months, with possible extension

Tasks:

  • Evaluate and improve concepts swiftly using agile methodologies, topology optimization, and structural analysis.
  • Optimize, pre-size, and analyze aircraft structural components related to the energy storage system (e.g., battery casings, support structures).
  • Develop, manage, and validate detailed Finite Element (FE) models for sub-components and energy storage system structures.
  • Correlate models with test data to drive concept decisions and design optimizations.
  • Define and develop modelling methods, tools, and optimization techniques for efficient product pre-/development.
  • Provide support for structural analysis methods and tools relevant to new technologies.

Profile:

  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in topology optimization, structural analysis, crash and impact analysis for aircraft and preferably energy storage structures.
  • Strong knowledge of lightweight design principles, materials, and their structural behavior.
  • In-depth understanding of loading scenarios and mechanical behavior of complex aircraft structures.
  • Excellent knowledge of topology optimization, stress, fatigue, structural dynamics, crash and impact analysis methods.
  • Extensive experience with commercial implicit tools (preferably OptiStruct, Nastran) and explicit FE codes (LS-DYNA, Radioss).
  • Working experience with CAD software (NX, CATIA) is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with agile concepts and fast iterative pre-design phases in the R&T process.
  • Pragmatic, creative, target-oriented, and proactive mindset.
  • Fluent in English (Note: Fluent German or other languages are beneficial).

Knowledge:

  • Very good knowledge in topology optimization, structural analysis, and crash/impact analysis.
  • knowledge in energy storage-related structures.
  • Very good knowledge in lightweight design principles.
  • Very good knowledge in commercial implicit tools.

Languages:

C1 (advanced) in English.
