Technical Lead

This role is a very unique opportunity to raise a whole new generation of Engineers for a large finance client in Bristol. 10 graduate Engineers will be embarking on a new journey into the work environment.

Are you passionate about helping and supporting the growth of junior engineers? Would you have job satisfaction from ensuring they have strong engineering principles right from the start, and seeing their continued success as the 12 month contract progresses?

It's a unique role for all the right reasons.

Day to day will be so varied and you'll have to have a very patient and adaptable mindset to allow for your team of 10 to excel.

You'll start with a 2-3 week buffer to prepare for the year ahead with the graduate team, then get stuck into working on tickets as a team from day 1. As time goes on, and they get better and better, they'll learn to be more independent and fully submerse themselves in a working environment.

It's not a task to take lightly, but it's something of extreme importance - if we can build great principles from the start, you'll be setting up 10 junior engineers for an exciting career within software, devops, or data engineering with a big brand name!

So what sort of background would suit this?

  • NodeJS, any front end (ideally React), and Typescript/JavaScript
  • Any DevOps skills (Kubernetes, Containerisation, etc)
  • Exposure to SQL, NoSQL, Data Structures, Algorithms
  • Most importantly, a good history of mentoring / managing junior developers

This will be a completely hands-off role where you have the automony from the start to create a culture, team identity, and in 12 months be able to reflect on a super rewarding/challenging project!

I'm sure you'll have some questions, so pop me a connection request on LinkedIn ( Katelin Lovell at iO ) and let's set up some calls for Monday.

This will need to move quickly as the CV review will be on the 30th, with interviews happening the week of the 29th and a decision the week of the 5th. Start date will be in late February, with the actual project kicking off on March 18th!
