About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient Test Engineer to join our engineering team. This role focuses on the in-house testing of control systems and Motor Control Centers (MCCs) used in the Water and Wastewater industry. You will be responsible for validating software developed offshore and ensuring integrated system performance meets project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute comprehensive testing of PLC/HMI/SCADA software integrated with MCCs and control systems for water and wastewater treatment applications.
- Review and understand control system design specifications, P&IDs, and I/O lists to develop detailed test plans and test procedures.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) in-house, simulating field conditions and validating system operation against functional requirements.
- Identify and document software bugs, discrepancies, and integration issues; work closely with offshore software developers to resolve and re-test fixes.
- Conduct risk-based assessments of software changes and their impact on overall system functionality.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement in testing processes and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and complete test documentation, including test logs, issue reports, and test summary reports.
- Collaborate with project engineers, automation specialists, and system integrators to ensure successful project delivery.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Control Systems, or related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in testing or commissioning control systems, ideally within the water or utility sectors.
- Solid understanding of PLCs, SCADA/HMI systems, and MCC functionality.
- Hands-on experience with testing Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider platforms is a plus.
- Strong ability to read electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and control logic.
- Familiarity with structured software testing processes, including defect tracking and regression testing.
- Excellent communication skills to interface effectively with both local teams and offshore developers.
- Attention to detail, structured problem-solving skills, and a quality-driven mindset.
Desirable:
- Experience with IEC 61131-3 programming environments.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and networked control systems in an OT environment.
- Understanding of water industry standards (e.g., WIMES).
