Mechanical Design Engineer

£40,000 - £45,000 Per Annum

A client of mine is looking for, not one, but two Mechanical Design Engineers to join their current team of 7 in this rapidly growing department based down in Southampton. The work they do within the optics sector has applications into multiple industries and plays a vital role in life-changing electronic products.

The successful person will need to be a strong problem-solver who doesn't mind the autonomy of working individually when required as you will be expected to come up with concept designs, but who is also capable of working collaboratively within a team of multi-disciplined engineers.

Due to several new projects, the company has had to undergo a large transformation that has included creating a whole new shift in their manufacturing department just to keep up with this increased demand.

With all manufacturing completed on-site, it is essential that you are hands-on and familiar with associated manufacturing techniques for low-volume production. As part of your role, it will be down to your design for manufacture capabilities to ensure the product is fit for purpose.

Key Requirements:

• 3D CAD skills (ideally Solidworks)
• High-precision industry experience
• Design for Manufacture
• Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
